Artist Spotlight, March 2026: Kim Wilkinson, Spiritual Arts Intern

Drum roll, please, for the employee (Artist) spotlight for March… Kim, our Spiritual Arts intern!

“I am enrolled at Campbell Divinity School and feel called towards chaplaincy. This position, as a Spiritual Arts intern, is allowing me to have a ‘hands-on’ understanding of what is involved in the work of a chaplain.

I found Arbor Acres through my friendship with Mary Beth Beck-Henderson (Chaplain). We became friends several years ago as she interned at my church and have maintained our friendship via Facebook since then.

Although each of our STEWARD values (Stewardship, Trust, Excellence, Well-being, Artistry, Respect, Diligence) are definitely important and can work together, I would say Trust and Respect are my most important values. Without someone’s trust, then I wouldn’t be a very good chaplain, and I can earn their trust by showing them respect.

I have appreciated sharing conversations with some of the residents about their days and activities. Through these conversations, I have realized how varied the aging process can be and how important it is for a range of activities to be offered. I have also enjoyed connecting with some residents who are retired teachers (as I am) and ‘talking school.’

I am looking forward to continuing to realize God’s calling in my life and seeing how that will take shape! I am also looking forward to spring when I can get outside to work in the yard and flower garden!”

We are blessed to have Kim with us here at Arbor Acres and look forward to the value she will bring to residents and staff alike!

I can earn their trust by showing them respect.
