Arbor Acres offers a full range of resident activities thanks in large part to the dedication of our many volunteers. As National Volunteer Month winds down, we express gratitude for the generosity of time and talent this special group of people share with our community.
Here we highlight just some of these extraordinary people who make an immeasurable difference in the lives of our residents:
· Art Bloom, creative director and accompanist of our exceptional show choir, who coordinates weekly rehearsals 10 months of the year in preparation for two annual concerts. He also makes time to lead weekly sing-alongs for residents in healthcare.
· Josef, therapy dog owner, and therapy dog Suly, who visit residents in their rooms several times a month, offering companionship and eliciting smiles everywhere they go.
· Eddie Elliott, trombone player extraordinaire, who contributes his trombone playing to musical events across campus throughout the year, including The Sharps & Flats concerts
· Ronda Rich, one of the many residents who work in the volunteer-operated Village Gift Shop Monday through Friday, where profits from sales of gifts, clothing, accessories and more support residents in need of financial assistance
· Larry Pope, singer and guitar player, who, for more than 10 years, has been sharing his musical talents with residents in assisted living and skilled nursing with recognizable songs and stories from their generation that stimulate memories and conversation.
These volunteers and so many others are the heart of our community. Thank you all for your kindness, the special moments you help create, and the difference you make in the life of Arbor Acres.
