We are pleased to introduce Norma Davis, Concierge & Marketing Assistant, as she shares her story!
“My career began in the fashion industry as a textile designer. I have had several jobs as a designer creating prints for clothing, home furnishings, and knitwear. It was later that I began working part-time with residents at a retirement community. I enjoyed it immensely. I’ve always had a connection with older adults.
I landed at Arbor Acres through a friend, who recommended it to me and told me it was a pleasant place to work. Now that I am here, Arbor Acres has not only met my expectations, but exceeded them.
This year, I’m looking forward to seeing the activities that are being offered and which ones I can volunteer for. It would give me a chance to mingle with residents in a new capacity, outside of being behind a desk. They have proven that life in retirement can be fulfilling and fun.
At home, I’m looking forward to doing more self-care. I want to do more yoga classes and line dance classes. This will help me stay relaxed, focused, and energized.
I think doing your job to the best of your ability shows that you strive to achieve Excellence. When you love what you do, it benefits others as well as fills your heart with gratitude. This demonstrates Artistry at work to me.
One of my favorite memories since I’ve been here is volunteering for the Fall Fashion Show. This gave me a chance to work directly with the residents. They enjoyed having me do an activity with them. When I told my co-workers I would be in the Fashion Show, they came out to support me and cheer me on like family.”
Norma is a bright light here at Arbor Acres, and we look forward to see her smiling face every day!
