Artist Spotlight, January 2026: Julie Oakes, Housekeeper

Learn the story of one of our longtime housekeepers, Julie Oakes!

“I came to Arbor Acres in July, 2011. I’ve always had a passion for working with older adults and I fell in love with the residents and the beautiful campus immediately. I have enjoyed watching the campus grow and develop. I look forward to future opportunities within Arbor Acres and I like the stability that comes from the growth of the company.

I think that I am a combination of all of the ARTIST values (Artistry, Reverence, Talent, Innovation, Service, Truth), but Service is why I am here. I enjoy knowing that the service I provide our residents helps them maintain a clean and comfortable environment. I am a service-oriented person and love knowing that I make a difference to my residents.

Christmas parties and other events where Artists and residents are able to co-mingle are my favorite memories. One year, I was on the dance floor doing the Electric Slide with a few residents. It was perhaps one of the most enjoyable times that I’ve had. The opportunities I’ve had to interact with the residents on an informal level have always been special. I enjoy being able to have fun where I work, and I enjoy working at Arbor Acres.”

Julie’s contributions to the Housekeeping department and her service to our community are unparalleled! We are grateful to have her at Arbor Acres.

I enjoy being able to have fun where I work.
