Arbor Acres cultivates community, comfort and well-being for its residents and fulfills a responsibility to support senior adults in need by partnering with like-minded organizations.
In order to extend its mission into the broader world, Arbor Acres partners with organizations that share the values of excellence, innovation and care in assisting older adults to achieve their best, most productive lives. Here are some of the organizations with which Arbor Acres engages:
- Age-Friendly Forsyth: Age-Friendly Forsyth connects, informs, and engages aging adults and community partners to create a livable community through collaborative planning and action.
- United Methodist Association of Health and Welfare Ministries: The United Methodist Association promotes, inspires, recognizes and empowers excellence in human service ministries
- Crossnore School and Children’s Home: Crossnore School and Children’s Home provides residential foster care for children in crisis from North Carolina and is Arbor Acres’ next-door neighbor. In 2018, Arbor Acres residents raised enough money for Crossnore School and Children’s Home to replace all the barn roofs on the campus’ working farm. Read more here.
- Shepherd's Center of Greater Winston-Salem: The Shepherd’s Center of Greater Winston-Salem is an interfaith ministry that promotes and supports successful aging by providing direct services, volunteer opportunities, and enrichment programs for older adults. Arbor Acres supports the Shepherd's Center in many ways, including donating pool time in the Tomlinson Wellness Center three days per week for aqautic classes that both Shepherd's Center participants and Arbor Acres residents can take.
