Who are we? |

| Arbor Acres United Methodist Retirement Community is a full-service, accredited Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) that opened in March 1980. We are organized under the North Carolina Non-Profit Corporation Act and are affiliated with the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. Arbor Acres is the only CARF-CCAC- accredited community in Winston-Salem. |

Where is Arbor Acres located? |
|
Our community is located on 86 acres of rolling meadows within the city limits of Winston-Salem. Winston-Salem, rich in cultural heritage and the performing arts, is in the Piedmont area of North Carolina: 4 hours from the beach and 2 hours from the mountains. Residents are 30 minutes away from our regional airport and also have quick access to major hospitals and a medical school, multiple shopping centers, theaters, major universities, community service organizations and recreational parks.

| Arbor Acres provides a full spectrum of services designed to meet the spiritual, intellectual, physical, psychological, recreational and social needs of our residents. We provide the facilities, programs and support services that our residents' diverse lifestyles require. Additionally, we accomplish our objectives in a loving, supportive atmosphere and are guided by faith-based principles. As a not-for-profit retirement community, Arbor Acres uses its financial resources to enhance the quality of life for our residents and to advance the mission of Arbor Acres. |

What does 'CARF-CCAC accreditation' mean? |
|
| Arbor Acres is the only organization in Winston-Salem accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities-Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CARF-CCAC). Accreditation is a voluntary process that measures continuing care retirement communities against stringent national standards for excellence in which a CCRC must undergo a strict self-study examining its own governance structure, resident services, healthcare programs, and financial stability. |

How do entrance and monthly fees work? |
|
Arbor Acres is a fee-for-service community. Becoming a resident involves payment of entrance and monthly fees that cover the costs of residency. Entrance fees are tied to the size of the accommodations and are refundable through an amortization process at 2% per month for the first 50 months of residency.
Monthly fees cover the costs of programs and services provided by Arbor Acres, including weekly housekeeping, all interior and exterior maintenance, a dining plan, electricity/natural gas in apartments, cable TV, transportation to doctor's appointments, recreation and wellness programs, social activities, and more. |

Is Arbor Acres a tax-exempt organization? |
|
| Yes. Arbor Acres is a 501(c)(3) organization under federal law and is also a tax-exempt organization under North Carolina law. Gifts are tax-deductible. |

What are the residency requirements? |
|
The minimum age for entrance to Arbor Acres is 62. In the case of a married couple, the spouse may be 60.
Applicants to our independent living accommodations must be in good health and able to maintain an autonomous lifestyle.
When space is available, direct admission to assisted care and skilled care may be possible.

Does Arbor Acres allow direct admissions to skilled care? |
|
| Yes, Arbor Acres allows direct admissions to licensed levels of care (assisted care, skilled care and MemoryCare) when rooms are available. |

Does Arbor Acres allow pets? |
|
Yes! We welcome your four legged friends. We will ask you to sign a pet policy, but there is no pet deposit fee. We simply want to know how to care for your pet if you cannot. |
