Searching for Volunteer Stars......

"For the Volunteer Stars of Right Now, Tomorrow, and the Future..."

Our volunteer, Wayne, spends time with a resident.

Why Volunteer?

An altruistic desire to be of service to others is the most common reason offered by volunteers.  Yet there are many other sound reasons for pursuing volunteer opportunities that are ultimately good for everyone involved.  You may consider volunteer work in order to explore new careers.   You may want to try out an occupation very different from your own, build a resume, gain experience, meet new people, learn more about a community, maintain professional skills, learn new skills, support a cause or belief, indulge a curiosity, or pursue a lifelong dream.  There are a host of reasons to volunteer your time.

Whether you can spare 1 to 40 hours a week or a month, Arbor Acres can find a use for your talents and interests.  Here are a few ways you can volunteer at Arbor Acres:

· Administration · Pet Therapy · Game Player (Bingo, Bridge, Chess, etc.)
· Special Events · Song / Singer Leader · Resident Visitor (social)
· Gardening/Landscaping · Pianist / Organist · Outings with Residents
· Fundraising · Photography · Intellectual Programs (Book Club, Literature, Topics, etc.)
· Meal Deliveries · Art Instructor · Floral Arranger
· Switchboard / Receptionist · Dance Instructor · Hostess / Greeter / Floater for Dining
· Transportation · Craft Instructor · Recreation Services (Escort / Shopping Escort)
· Volunteer coordination · Computer Instructor · Special Events
· Chaplain · Fitness / Wellness · Movie Leaders (to show videos)
· Gift Shop · Library

As a Continuing Care Retirement Community, Arbor Acres has residents in all stages of care from Independent Living to Assisted Living to a fully licensed Health Care facility.

Volunteers offer a welcome and important contribution to the Christian ministry that surrounds the community.  Every effort is made to appropriately match each volunteer’s skills and interest with a volunteer need.  Arbor Acres’ volunteers are welcome to work on an as-needed basis or on a regular schedule.

Becoming an Arbor Acres volunteer is a rewarding experience and a wonderful opportunity for individuals who gain personal satisfaction by helping others and making a difference.
